Dr. Tobias Guggenberger is a post-doctoral researcher and co-head at the Research Institute for Information Management (FIM) and the Branch Business and Information Systems Engineering of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT). After studying business administration (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) at the University of Bayreuth, he received his doctorate in information systems with distinction (summa cum laude). His dissertation focused on the design and management of blockchain-based information systems. Mr. Guggenberger's research is dedicated to the development and management of information systems that rely on the use of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technology. His main focus is on the investigation of socio-technical aspects that result from the interaction between people and new technologies, as well as on the integration of such applications into organizational structures. A particular emphasis of Mr. Guggenberger's research is on exploring synergies and potential conflicts between various emerging technologies. By examining these interactions, his work contributes to deepening the understanding of the complex interrelationships and impacts of emerging technologies on organizations and society as a whole. To achieve his research goals, Mr. Guggenberger develops both innovative theoretical perspectives and practical methods that enable the effective management of real-world challenges related to the implementation and use of emerging technologies. In this process, he relies on an interdisciplinary approach that includes both technical and social science aspects. His research is regularly published in renowned scientific journals (e.g., Electronic Markets, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management) and conference proceedings (e.g., ICIS, ECIS). He is also actively involved in the scientific community as a reviewer for various journals and conferences.
